Who can volunteer?
You must be 18 years or older to volunteer, work, or intern with Watch Duty.
How do I become a volunteer reporter?
The path to becoming a Watch Duty volunteer reporter begins by joining us as a volunteer contributor.
Contributors learn how Watch Duty operates, train and practice in our systems, and build the skills needed to support our reporting operations. After a few months of training and experience, contributors may have the opportunity to work toward becoming a volunteer reporter.
Before receiving access to Watch Duty's reporting tools, reporters complete our:
- Interview process
- Background check
- Onboarding process
- Training
Becoming a reporter takes time. The contributor period gives volunteers an opportunity to learn our systems and reporting practices before taking on additional responsibilities.
