How does flight tracking work?

  • Updated

Our flight tracker is setup to track all fixed wing and rotary firefighting aircraft.  You will not see any commercial aircraft or news helicopters as we filter this out to give you a better view.  Our data comes directly from ADSB Exchange which you can see here: https://globe.adsbexchange.com/.

Please note that sometimes in remote areas or when aircraft get very low that they can drop off our radar.  They will come back but there are known inconsistencies due to topography and distance to an ADSB antenna.

If you are interested in helping to fill in these dead zones you can buy a cheap antenna on Amazon and read more information about how all of this works here: https://www.adsbexchange.com/hardware/

Enable or disable the Flight Tracker

The Watch Duty flight tracker is only available to members.

  1. Make sure you are logged in, then tap the Layers button
  2. In the General section, select Flight Tracker
