How to use the Pin Drop

  • Updated

Pin Drop helps you get details about any spot on the map, including its address, county, and coordinates.

You can drop a single pin at a time. When you do, a card opens with the location’s details. From there, you can copy its coordinates in three formats or save the spot as a place.

How to drop a pin

Mobile app

  1. Open the app.
  2. Go to the spot on the map where you want to drop the pin.
  3. Long-press the location on the map.
  4. Select Drop Pin.
  5. Tap and drag the Pin to view updated information.

Web

  1. Right-click the spot on the map where you want the pin. The menu shows the latitude and longitude of where you clicked.
  2. Select Drop Pin.

On both mobile and desktop, you can also drop a pin by:

  1. Select the Tools button.
  2. Select Drop Pin.
  3. This drops the pin in the center of the map, where you can move it by dragging to the desired location.

By searching

  1. Search for a location on the map using the search bar.
  2. Select a result.
  3. A pin drops there.

What you’ll see

  • The pin shows the full address when one is available.
  • If a full address can’t be found, you’ll see the city, state, and county instead.
  • The pin has an Info tab, which shows the location’s address and coordinates.

How to copy or share the pin’s coordinates

Coordinates appear in your preferred format, which is Decimal Degree by default. When you share a pin, the location is sent in the format you select.

  1. Drop a pin.
  2. Select the coordinates.
  3. Select the format you want: Decimal Degree, Degrees Decimal Minutes, or Degrees Minutes Seconds. The coordinates are copied in that format and become your default the next time you drop a pin.
  4. Share the coordinates using the method you prefer.

How to adjust the location of your pin

In-app and on the web, you can drag the pin to adjust its location.
